I have finished reading the Qur’an and I am not sure how I feel about it. At first, I thought Islam might be the Truth but I came to realize that there are similarities between Muhammad and Joseph Smith; they both said the original message of Christ was lost and they were restoring it. Both denied the Divinity of Christ; when multiple prophets of different religions deny the same fundamental teaching of Christianity it is at least worth a look into. Also, between Jesus’ death and Muhammad’s first revelation is roughly 600 years, a period that I don’t think had ever been between two major prophets. Further, no prophet had ever came with a death or faith mentality. Further, the Qur’an repeats a lot and points to the destruction of cities as a sign of God, but that doesn’t show the Qur’an has authority, especially since these stories are all basically repeats of Sodom and Gomorrah. Also, Muhammad was assaulted by an angel at his first revelation and went home and wanted to die after. Even though the angel consoled him when he wanted to, he never responded like angels seem to; that is, instant explanation, he was just like, “READ! READ IN THE NAME OF YOUR LORD!” Finally, Mary is confused with Miriam, and 2:223 compares women to fields.

You’re best bet, in my opinion, is to read the earliest source we have, the Church Fathers. They will lead you to the Catholic Church.
Then look into the Resurrection of Christ, and see if you can disprove it. If not, then everything Christ said was true and the Catholic Church is the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

So glad you were able to discern what is true and what is not. One of Satan’s favorite (and best) tricks is to take something true and good and holy then mimic it while changing it into something similar but “un-true”, “un-holy,” and definitely not good. He’s not called the great counterfeiter for nothing. Congrats on your discernment.

Yes, and all these Middle East countries used to be Christian prior to Islam. The standard Muslim explanation is that Jesus did not resurrect but it was a lie spread by his followers. Sorry, but 600 years later to claim this is too late.

Yes, there were 750 bishops in North Africa before the Muslims came through. Afterwards there were three.

I’m glad to see that you’re coming out of this. It’s not my intention to lecture, but I pray that you don’t intend to take more risks like this. You came very close to losing your faith for Islam, and you’ll need to take steps in the future to prevent from stumbling like this again. The easiest step is to not read other religious texts- this is best left for apologists who specialize in this.

The next easiest step is to pray- start praying and never cease. Talk to God, tell Him what’s on your mind, but then spend more time listening than speaking if you can. Speaking to Him is good, but how can we hear His voice if we won’t let Him get a word in edgewise? God is no different than anyone else in that, if we stop spending time with Him, or instead listen to what others who don’t know Him we’ll say about Him, we will very quickly forget His true identity. This is when we feel lost, and it’s His way of telling us to come back.

You seem to be hitchhiking ‘your religion’ into this forum, but rest assured, unlike the sword power of Islam, Catholicism withstood all the superlative assaults from the mightiest. Lastly, the desperate attempt to compare Godly revelation with hasish induced hallucinations bear the hallmark of evilness in Quran.

Thank God, OP for your discernment. God got you through it. I agree with Thom18.

Don’t take anymore risks. Just pray and build up a good relationship with God. Like Saint Paul says in Romans to keep your mind on things of the Spirit.
