So, when we sin in our dreams, does it perhaps count as venial sin or? 🤷 😃

MEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRYYYYY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!

BLESSED BE THE HOLY NAMES OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH!!!

No it is not a sin. You can only sin if you know that what you are doing is a sin. To sin means to freely choose to do wrong. Dreaming is not sinning.

I think that the Evil One may oppress you in your dreams and cause you to think that you have sinned but that is only a personal opinion.

You know, dreams are amazing things. They are like stories that happen when your asleep. Everyone should write down all their dreams, because they really do make very good stories, and you spend about 1/3 of your life sleeping.I have an online dream journal, you can read it at pages.matmice.com/home/dream_journal. I had a funny sort of dream last night.

Anyway, If you sin in a dream, of course its not really a sin, unless its a CONTROLLED LUCID- that is, unless you know you’re dreaming and do it on purpous. I occasionally do things in dreams which I would never really do- such as smoke or fall in love- but if you are dreaming, you are not really doing it, and you are not doing it on purpous, so its not a sin.

Many years ago as a young adult, I had a problem with impure thoughts. So I made it a practice that whenever an impure thought would flit through my mind I would just squelch it dead. I put it immediately out of my head and refused to think about it.

I did that for several days. My dreams had a sudden change in nature. They became extremely erotic - almost physically painful. I would wake up turn over and get back to sleep only to have it happen again. After about a week of that, I realized that the dreams were far more powerful and horrible than the occasional impure thought. I also realized that if I did not recognize the thought while awake, my subconscience would beat me with it while asleep.

So, when an impure thought came to me while awake, I recognized it as an impure thought but I refused to dwell on it. Sometimes it would hang there and try to get my attention and I would respond with, “Yes, I see you there, but no, I’m not going to think about you.” The dreams stopped.
