Ok I think I’m ready to go to confession tomorrow.
I’m going to the morning one so I don’t chicken out by the afternoon.

Its wierd going after two years. Part of me doesn’t see the point but the other half really wants to do this.

The priest I went to years ago has moved away and for the act of contrition he always read it out for me to repeat do you think the new priest will do this?? I don’t know him well at all.
The last time I went was after my regular confessor had moved on and the priest said “Now I’ll hear your act of contrition” and I couldn’t think of anything to say becuase I’d always just repeated it of the other priest so sat in silence for what seemed like ages. Such a bad memory lol 😃

Can I have some opinions please?? Do you think its ok if I say I broke the ninth commandment ?? times or do you think he’ll ask for more detail?

Regardless I’m going to go tomorrow anyway. Wish me luck.

I haven’t been to confession before (only just baptized), but my understanding is that it’s up to you to say the act of contrition. Moreover, I’m told it doesn’t have to be recited according to the traditional script. All you need to do is say something to indicate sincere contrition to the priest. In a pinch, even just “Christ, have mercy” would do. Again, never been before, this is just what I’ve read on Fr. Z.'s blog and elsewhere.

Don’t be too nervous about it though. Most priests I’m told are happy just to see someone in the confessional.

Write out the Act of Contrition on a 3X5 card and take it with you.

I agree that you should take a copy of the “Act of Contrition” with you, just in case it would be needed.

May the Holy Spirit guide you in making a good confession. 🙂
God bless.

I’m so glad I/we don’t have to remember anything as its all out on cards for us guys. Even my sins I prepare and write out before hand so I made sure I have said them coherently enough.

You will feel better for going though 😃

Don’t sound right to say, ‘happy confession’?

Thanks guys for all your support 😃

Fingers crossed it goes well for me.

Just take a copy of an act of contrition in case, they had a short one stuck in the confessional when I went which I used because mine was longer and after confessing so much I was overwhelmed and tearful by that stage. Don’t worry too much because the Priest will walk you through if you have any trouble.
