My wife and I attend two Catholic churches, one in Maryland where our home is and one in a very small town on the eastern shore of Maryland where we have built our future retirement home.
I converted to Catholicism about 22 years ago because I wanted the stronger discipline of the church. The priest in my home church was an “old-liner” and was a huge reason for my conversion.
Unfortunately with the inevitable changing of pastors, I have seen a slow move to more “progressive” priests who, in my opinion, have moved away fro the basics to a more liberal viewpoint. I am strongly pro-life and we don’t even pray for the unborn anymore. My enthusiasm for the church had been waning.
Last evening, we attended our “retirement” church and I was surpried to see literally hundreds of small white crosses spread around the church lawn. There was a huge banner that read “3700 Babies are Murdered Every Day in The United States. Please Pray for the Victims of Abortion, both the Innocent Babies and their Mothers”. During mass, we observed a moment of silent prayer asking God to change the hearts of our political leaders and put an end to this attrocity.
The difference in the two churches is another reason why I look forward to my retirement.
Peace
