When life imitates art, the result can be less enjoyable than we anticipate.
I was thinking of the movie “The Island” and it reminded me of the current events surrounding Planned Parenthood and the Center for Medical Progress undercover videos.

A snippet: Well, if you missed that movie, no problem, because we are seeing it played out as we speak by Planned Parenthood. If you’ve seen the videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, you have seen Planned Parenthood haggling over the price of organs from unborn fetuses, and referring to them as “product.”

That word “product” was used in the movie The Island to show just how villainous the bad guys were, that they referred to living, breathing, thinking human beings (albeit clones) as “product.”

Very cool site.
But it’s not the inventions that worry me, It’s the attitudes. And I guess that should be no surprise, as human nature hasn’t changed since Cain picked up a cudgel.
But we should not be accepting brutality as normal, and paying for it with American tax dollars.

I completely agree with your original post. Even more than Huxley’s Island, and the movie version of it, I think Brave New World will probably end up being most prophetic. It can be almost impossibly difficult to convince people that a war on family really is being waged all around us, partially under the guise of pro-choice and gay marriage social conditioning, but for those who can clearly perceive it, what could be the ultimate goal of all that? I think eugenics via carefully planned artificial insemination programs, combined with some form of state run orphanages, actually is in the cards somewhere down the line. Just try convincing someone of that! Crazy as it seems, I think Huxley’s “fiction” was right on point. Children in the future are going to need to be raised somehow, and without family units what could that look like? I think the true reality of our world is, we’re engulfed in an invisible war that’s raging all around us. The fact that most people can’t see it, let alone agree on a name for who the enemy is, makes it impossible to effectively counter or fight.

I should probably have added that I don’t see anything along those lines happening for a century or two. Each generation will be conditioned and molded and tweaked to it’s breaking point, and each successive generation will accept the new reality as completely normal. So, in this way social change occurs very, very rapidly, but changes that extreme will take some time.

I create alternate reality future scenarios all the time. Much of the information is out there but it’s not labelled “this is bad for you, will be bad for you.” Humanoid robots are getting much attention in the media and some in fiction. This is already happening in Japan with Honda’s Asimo. There are also science articles about personal assistant robots that could be used by the average person. The implications are clear: You and I must accept robots as part of everyday life. The problems include malfunctions, who is liable for injuries, and who can pay for such a stupid, needless device? There is also the very real possibility of putting people out of work since humanoid robots can be programmed for one job and then reprogrammed for another. And what if a worker robot malfunctions? Liability if there is unintentional injury to humans? Maintenance and repair costs? There is more, but I’ll leave it at that.

We need informed people to cover business trends as they relate to scientific advances. I’ve got a list of companies. Scenarios need to be provided to the peasants as information becomes available.

I think the true reality of our world is, we’re engulfed in an invisible war that’s raging all around us. The fact that most people can’t see it, let alone agree on a name for who the enemy is, makes it impossible to effectively counter or fight.

St Paul had it figured out. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph 6:12.

And depressing though it all is, we are not alone in the struggle, and the enemy is not all powerful.

In correspondence obtained by the Guardian under a public records act request, Apple engineer Frank Fearon wrote: “We would … like to get an understanding of timing and availability for the space, and how we would need to coordinate around other parties who would be using [it].”

I realize they have been testing this for awhile out in CA, but I highly doubt the powers that be will let it get too popular, in the end, too many people would loose too much money when things like auto insurance, traffic accidents, money related to accidents, all come to an end if driver-less cars become the norm.

No more DUIs, no more revenue from traffic citations, this would devastate alot of industries. I think they hold back alot of new technology for this very reason.

How about using organs from condemned criminals?
In Larry Niven’s future history (the Known History series) the rejection problem is solved and criminals are "executed by being taken apart, the heart being removed last. Since all voters to have a chance at immortality, or at least a much longer life more and more crimes are made eligible for the death penalty including repeated driving offences.

Some authors have predicted artificial wombs. In Lois McMasters Bujolds’ Barryar series only callous husbands would insist that their wives suffer doing it the old way.
In one of Niven’s books he uses the idea of artificial wombs to help populate a new planet but the idea is abandoned. Since the children do not experience the ups and downs a mother does during pregnancy the children come out emotionless, almost sociopathic.

The criminals for organs scenario hasn’t come about (but why not? embryos are fair game) but artificial wombs are probably on the horizon at some point.

As the science fiction future unfolds will orthodox Christians wind up like the Amish? Will children conceived naturally without genetic screening be denied health insurance or government equivalent?

It hasn’t? It looks like this has been happening in China, where criminals have accounted for most of the organ donations,
