Really silly site about 666 and the Papacy

You gotta love this one for its overstretching:

There’s a table at the top showing how all these Popes add up to 666. Or will once a new Pope is elected with a new, previously unused name.

Looks impressive (if a bit crazy).

But wait. How many Popes are listed with the name “John”? And how many are listed as “Benedict”?

Oops, the sums have suddenly stopped working and the whole daft idea has collapsed.

And why not use the Popes with other names too? The page says their are reasons for this, found in the Bible. But doesn’t really say what those reasons might be!

Most of the page was written before the election of Benedict XVI. That would muck things up even further but the site writer gets even sillier and says that our current Pope is actually an antipope but the Vatican haven’t noticed yet.

They will get really annoyed if it really is shown the number should be 616!

You get daft ideas on the internet but this is one of the sillier.
 
  1. Now since 666 is the number of ‘its’ name, let us find one that matches it.
    Ellen = L+L=100,
    Gould=U+L+D=555,
    White=a double ‘U’ = 2 'V’s +1 =11.
    Total these three numbers, and we have, 100 + 555 + 11 = 666.
    So Ellen Gould White, the prophetess of Seventh Day Adventism, has a name that adds up to 666, and it is the number of a name and not of a title.

They forgot Sixtus, Julius, Linus, Petrus, Boniface, Formosus, etc.

Stupid site.

And so on…

Than C=3. 3 multiplied by 2 is 6. How many c’s in Jack Chick’s name? 3! 666!
 
If you search CA for an article Jimmy Aiken wrote on this topic…he points out that another known anti-Catholic’s name adds up to 666 as well. I think it’s the Jehovah witness founder.

I bet if Jack Chick’s name DID add up to 666 he’d change his name and then deny it.

Wait…maybe he did that already… :hmmm:
 
If half the time spent on making that website and doing that math was actually used in prayerful worship, that guy could have had God move mountains.

I remember seeing a website where someone figured out that Barney the Purple Dinosaur was the Antichrist. I think he’s right. 😃
