Reasons for being vague in which religion you follow, or omitting

This is a good point.

Also, incidentally, I got far more mail about my particular church enrollment when I had “Struggling with God” as my religion than I have at any other point. So I guess even admitting that you don’t know quite know where you fit is no guarantee of posting free of suspicion!

I will answer for myself only…

When some people find out what denomination you are, some will do a few things…

1. Not listen to you because they do not like the denomination.
2. Assume they know what you believe because they have read a few lines in a book.
3. When you mention a certain thing, they assume they know how you feel about it because of some interpretation from someone else in that denomination who was completely wrong.

Example: I mentioned one thing from the Bible and didn’t really give my understanding of it and someone TOLD me that I was probably a JW. That’s ridiculous.

So, for those reasons and a few more, I would prefer that people know me as a Christian and no denominational name.

Also, my beliefs differ from a lot of people in my denomination. (because they don’t study)

I thought a Christian has nothing to hide, courageous and trustful. He is convinced with his belief which he thinks is true. He does not make presumption nor will he be uncharitable. He is honest and truthful. He will come open and naked knowing God will preserve him from the attack of the enemy.

For that reason he will disclose his religion when required because he has nothing to hide

Only the One from the dark will only be surrounded by darkness so as to allow room for maneuver and deception. I am not saying you are but by hiding in some obscure façade you make it difficult for posters to respond to you and much time is wasted in coming to the real issue that you want to discuss.

You would have avoided this if you had identified yourself clearly.

In many of your threads you merely gave Biblical verses without even elaborating why you do so. You expect posters to read your mind and respond to your thread accordingly.

For effective dialogue and discussion we need to know your religious affiliation so that it helps in knowing from where you are and to address you accordingly especially if you are vague or insufficient in presenting your argument as what happen to some of your threads.

Im a Christian first that is my identity. Why should I allow anyone to attempt to define me as something else?

We are all Christians first and foremost and yet so different and contrast in belief. How can that be?
