Lucifer is a term applied to the devil or in Hebrew Ha-Saytan or the enemy quite litterally. The term shows up in the Vulgate Latin of St. Jerome in Isaiah 14:12-15 where it is actually refering to an unnamed king of Babylon. Lucifer meaning light bearer is from jewish legends borrowed from the assyrians as are angels (not to say they don’t exist!) There is a parallel passage in Ezechiel 28:1-10. The fall of the angels is referenced in Revelations (the Apocalypse) 12:7-17. Lucifer is the title of the Morning Star (Venus) hence the modern rendering in NRSV and the NAB. The Original hebrew tittle being Helel Ben Shachar or son of the morning.The KJV and the Douai use the traditional term.
The CCC refers to the fall of the angels in para 391-395 note also 2851-2854.
