Yesterday evening, on the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, I was received into the Maronite Church.
May my request to to follow the spirituality of our Father Maron be blessed. As I unite more closely with my Maronite parish and the entire Maronite Church, may the Almighty work in my life and bring it to bear much fruit.

In the Name of the Father ✝️, and the Son ✝️, and the Holy Spirit ✝️. Amen.

Maronite church is based on the fact that history cannot be changed in the divine persona of Truth.

I am happy for your news and that the process came to a happy conclusion.

Congratulations!

Is there much difference between the Maronite church and the Catholic church
A better formulation to your question, if I may offer the suggestion, would be to ask how the Occidental Church differs from the Catholic Churches of the East.

Or, Father, how the Oriental traditions differ from those of the West and East ;). On this board, we tend to use the term “Eastern” in relation to the Byzantine Churches and “Oriental” for the Syriac/Coptic/Armenian family of Churches. It’s arbitrary, but it seems fitting in light of the Eastern vs Oriental Orthodox distinction that has become common in English usage (the former being the Greek/Slavic Churches in communion with Constantinople and the latter being the Non-Chalcedonians). So often when people say “the Eastern tradition this” or “the Eastern Churches that”, they are really thinking of Byzantine particularities that may or may not apply to the Oriental traditions.

Congratulations!

Maronite’s are Catholics. There are 23 sui iuris Churches in the Catholic Church. 22 of which are Eastern Catholic. The largest Church is the Latin Church which almost all Catholics belong to. Sadly, some Catholics are not aware of the other Catholic Churches in full communion with Rome. All together, there are about 18 - 20 million Eastern Catholics in the world. They belong to a variety rites which include the Byzantine Rite (9 million), the West Syriac Rites which the Maronite’s belong to (3.5 million), the East Syriac Rites (5 million), the Armenian Rite (800,000) and the Alexandrian Rite (300,000).

All of these groups are fully Catholic in full communion with Rome. Therefore, we may receive each others sacraments. We both have different liturgy’s, traditions, and theological opinions, but we’re all one Church. We’re under the same Pope. We all believe in the same things.

One more was added in 2015 for 23 eastern: Eritrean Catholic Church (Metropolitan).

Yes. I believe the existing Eritrean dioceses, which had been part of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, formed the basis of the new Church Sui Iuris with one of the existing sees raised to the metropolitan rank.

That is lovely… welcome home and I pray that the perspective of newcomers like you may help us reclaim the richness and uniqueness of the Maronite Church.

That is my very same prayer for the richness and uniqueness that captivated me.

Thank you.
