Receiving communion after divorce?

I am a Catholic and was divorced 32 years ago. Did not attend church until 3yrs ago. Joined a Catholic parish told the priest my situation and told him I want to come back. The question came up about receiving communion. He told me I could receive as long as it was not in the same church I was married in. I don’t want to be committing a sin. I should not question my priest but I’ve got to be sure. Can you help me. I attend church almost every day now and not receiving would greatly upset me. Please advise me.
