My non-Catholic girlfriend is very bothered by the idea that we recieve Holy Communion at every service and not just on Sunday.

I know there’s a lot of Scriptural support for this, but my brain just doesn’t seem to be accessing it at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly bothers her about it? I mean does she think it is sinful or something like that? I don’t understand why it would be a problem, unless her faith (erroneously) states that one is to only receive once a week. If so, does she have Scriptural backing for that belief?

Luke 11:3 “…Give us this day our DAILY bread…”

John 6:48-52 "I am the bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the desert (every day), and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. "

Matthew 26:26 "And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke: and gave to his disciples, and said: Take ye, and eat. This is my body. "

Jesus simply said ‘do this in memory of me’ - why does she think he only meant once a week? And where is it indicated in Acts or the Epistles that the Apostles broke bread only on Sundays?

In other words what about it is bothering her and where is the support for her position that it should only be on Sundays?
