Hello,

Been reading the Church Fathers for a number of years now but had a bit of a break recently. Recently re-read AUgustine’s Confessions and love it. Have read the Apostolic Fathers, bits of Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Origen, but after something to sink my teeth into a bit. Interested in early church practices, worship and theology. Can you recommend me something life-changing?

PS I’m not a Catholic, but an Anglican priest - came here because we Anglicans don’t seem to read the fathers as much as our Catholic friends.

I picked up Jimmy Akin’s book but have yet to start it
The Fathers Know Best: Your Essential Guide to the Teachings of the Early Church
by Jimmy Akin
buying from catholic, com helps support its ministry and forum.

if money is an issue I would check Internet Archive, (https://archive.org/)

St Augustin and Jerome are below but they have a lot to choose from

The Ancient Christian Writers Series from Newman and Paulist Press offers some fine selections. I like these two Church Fathers, who are somewhat les popular now and also known among the Desert Fathers, Evagrius and John Cassian.
