I’ve read countless books about Padre Pio throughout the decades, and the best one is the bio by Bernard Ruffin. The author isn’t Catholic, and I believe that is why he was able to write such an objective account of both Padre Pio and the Church. It is a good book to read not only for the info about Padre Pio, but you get a good insight into the churchmen, and you will find out that “the more things change, the more they remain the same.”
