I’m trying to decide what to get my boyfriend for Christmas, and since he’s a bit of a bookworm and he’s interested in Church history (especially the medieval Church), one idea I had was, naturally, a book covering either Church history or art from that period. He’s also a bit of a sucker for traditional (think Orthodox-style) iconography, so a book about that might also be nice. The more in-depth the better, especially theologically (as long as it’s solid, of course, so something with a Nihil Obstat). It would also be great if it was available in digital format, as he doesn’t have much storage space in his room (he still lives with his wishy-washy Protestant family).

Any recommendations you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Books by the late Regine Pernoud are one option. Hilaire Belloc another. Warren Carroll’s History of Christendom is six volumes.
