Dear friend in Christ,Many parishes have just as much “opportunity” for abuse as yours does, yet the problems you list do not occur.
Rather than reconsidering communion under both kinds, you might want to first address the problems in your parish.
Personally, I generally think its best to make sure things are being done as the Church directs before deciding that the Church needs to change her practices.![]()
I wonder WWJD?
For hundreds of years, peak years of Catholic growth in the Priesthood and in the pews the ENTIRE JESUS CHRIST was received in the sacred Host of Holy Communion. Because He is Complete in The Host alone, the cup is not a necessity, except as “a sign of unity and clarity!”
**This sign has brought instead GREAT DISUNITY! **Please read on.
At the end of our Parish Fourty Hour Devotation Last night, the visiting Priest shared that he had recently read a report out of Washington that “only 16% of professed Catholics” regularly fulfill their Sunday and Holyday obligations.
I would point out that a Pew Report for 2007 claims that in 1965 "about 70% of professed Catholics did so."
Another report claims that fully 10% of **ALL Americans **are lapsed Catholics!"
Why? There can be no doubt that the unneeded practices in place today have proven to be unworthy Of CHRIST! And clearly detramental to the souls of countless, once Catholic people.
We have made the Liturgy focus “Us, we, me!” When it used to be, and once again needs ot be focused on the Sacrifical Aspects that Glorify God. It’s not about us, it’s about God and God’s sacrifice for us and Love for us.
These elements are muted, hidden, and overridden by just about anybody being an Ordinary minister of HC! Everyday, every Mass, in nearly every church, is hardly “extrodinary.” It is also NOT what the POPE and Magistrium have authorized, even with the granted Indult!
“1390 Since Christ is sacramentally present under each of the species, communion under the species of bread alone makes it possible to receive all the fruit of Eucharistic grace. For pastoral reasons this manner of receiving communion has been legitimately established as the most common form in the Latin rite. But “the sign of communion is more complete when given under both kinds, since in that form the sign of the Eucharistic meal appears more clearly.” This is the usual form of receiving communion in the Eastern rites.”
So for the sake od “clarity” we abuse the Sacrament? And what has then “clarity” proven? Only “that we ARE the church!” We are NOT! We are members of the “church militiant!”
John 15: "1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch of mine that bears no fruit, he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already made clean by the word which I have spoken to you. 4* Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned. 7* If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. 8* By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples."**
Dear Mother of our Loving and Merciful God, please lead His Church back to sanity, back to piety, back to holiness and back to a course of Salvation! Let us make God our focus and priority! Amen
