Proof of reincarnation would make our LORD and His earth-based body, the Church, both liars.
No.
Both the teaching on reincarnation and the teaching of there being only one lifetime for action can be taken as provisional, as didactic tools (and to the same end, at that); which, in fact, is the function they ideally have in the religions they appear in respectively.
Except that the people who like to fret about them have missed that point. 😊

Yes, I do believe that the Church can err in “doctrinal” teaching. God has written the Book of Nature and if new facts we discover in nature contradict the Catholic interpretations of the Bible or the Catechisms, then we need to go back to those human interpretations and correct them.

St Augustine has very wisely pointed that out already 16 hundred years ago.
In matters of faith and morals the Church cannot err. Anyone who believes it can does not believe the Catholic Church is the one true Church established by Christ and entrusted with the Deposit of Faith and given the authority to teach.

All teachings have the authority of God behind them. To say the Church can err is to say God can err.

God has written the Book of Nature which we slowly unravel through science. Look at all the quibbles going on over Adam & Eve on this forum. Science is not concerned with faith and morals.

You seem to be missing the point. A Church teaching can NEVER be proven false by science or anyone. The Church cannot err in matters of faith and morals.

This must be believed by all Catholics. Its not the case we must believe unless proven otherwise!

Anyone who believes the Church can make errors in its teachings on faith and morals would be committing a sin of grave matter.

I got your point. Our Church is the right one. We have the TRUTH.
Let’s just hope the church next door doesn’t claim the same.

I believe that the Catholic Church contains the fullness of all that our Lord Jesus Christ taught.

That doesn’t mean that we are walking around with very shiny halos. For believers it means we are on a journey to be like Christ… All the helps he gave us for our journey are in place; we need to receive them with open hearts.
