My runaway daughter called!!! She wished me a Happy Mother’s Day, and she’ll be home tomorrow!!! :dancing: :crying: :bounce: :gopray2: :rotfl:

We still have issues to work through, and agreements to make, but SHE’S COMING HOME!!!

Thank you all for your prayers. Please continue to remember us in your prayers as we move forward.

*Lk 15:20-24 He got up and went back to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was **filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and **kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against **heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your **son.’ But his father ordered his servants, 'Quickly bring **the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and *sandals on his feet. Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.’ Then the celebration began.

That is the best news I have heard in a long time! Part of the reason I quit answering the phone for the Youth Crisis Hotline here was that runaways broke my heart.

Especially back then 20 years ago, there really wasn’t anywhere to “handle” runaways. For at least three out of four runaways I talked to, the best advice I had for them was to go home, but they had a hard time hearing that. The home usually has to be a lot worse than it is to make running away worth it. At least those who believed they were in imminent physical danger by going home could be taken into custody by police.

What a blessed Mother’s Day. I am happy for you. I will pray that you and her get things ironed out.

What a wonderful Mother’s Day present you recieved from her! :clapping:

I imediately thought of the story of the Prodigal Son when I read your thread title. How difficult and yet beautiful it must be for you when God makes His stories your own.

May God continue to bless your whole family and help you work out your differences in ways pleasing to Him.

Thank you for sharing your joy with us.

what a blessing, many prayers for you as you reconcile, go easy on her and be prepared to listen without overreacting, then help her deal with issues that led to her leaving. It will take a long time but it will be worth it.

Great advice! IMO with runaway kids or even runaway dogs for that matter, it does no good to chew them out after we find them, or they associate the chewing out with the returning home. “Oboy, now I know what is waiting for me if I go home!”

:clapping: :dancing: What else can I say, except—

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Praising Jesus for your Mother’s Day phone call & praying for your family right now.

God Bless,
CM

YeeHaw! Our prayers will be with you as you work through things. Thanks for sharing the good news!

Thanks be to God! What a wonderful gift! I cannot help but wonder if our beloved deceased Pope John Paul II (who had such a love for young people) may be intervening from heaven to benefit the lives of young people all over the world. :clapping: :gopray2:

Hang in there Nan! All the prayers may be working. I know raising girls isn’t easy, for I have 3 of them and one boy too. Hopefully you reunion will be good and you can start anew. God Bless your family. You will be in my prayers.

SHE’S HERE!!! SHE’S HERE!!! SHE’S HERE!!! :yup: :bounce: :love: :gopray2: :dancing:

I cleaned her room yesterday. At lunchtime today I ran home, put flowers, a card, and big balloons in her room, then papered her door with happy wrapping paper.

She was expecting us to want to sit right down and start talking issues. Dreading it, really, but she was finally ready to talk.

She got here just after dark, saw the balloons through the window, and started to lose it right then. We laughed, we cried, we hugged, and we said “sorry” and over and over again. What joy!

We can start talking issues later, after everyone gets some decent sleep. We’ll take our time. Right now we celebrate!!!

(And we send thank-you cards to the compassionate people who facilitated her return.)

Is THIS what it takes to get teenagers to open up to parents?? God help me if it is, because I have two more daughters right behind her!!! :whacky: :rotfl: :whacky:

I asked God for strength that I might achieve;
I was made weak that I might learn to obey.

I asked God for health that I might do great things;
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.

I asked God for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I asked God for power that I might have the approval of men;
I was given weakness that I might feel the need for God.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing that I asked for, but everything that I hoped for!
I am, among all men, most richly blessed!!!

You have me in tears. I will pray for your family during this healing time. I am glad you celebrated her return. I think that teenagers just don’t realise just how much we love them. One very powerful tool is the written word. My girls all went to a Kairos retreat in the senior yr. of high school. Each parent is asked to write their child a letter telling them how much they mean to them, perhaps important info about their birth (How much you wanted them). At an important part of the retreat (when they talk of God’s love for them through their parents) the letters get read aloud, without saying the girls name at first. Your child sits and listens to basically a love letter from a partent to them. I remember just how powerful the exercise is. It is amazing how we just hug and kiss them so much as little ones, and then we assume they don’t need the coddling and the positive words. Perphaps to initiate your talks with her you could put something in writing. You will not believe the power. I think you would feel the Holy Spirit move you both. God Bless.

…we all are so pleased and happy for the both of you… may God bless you both… good luck…

happy mothers day…

i am so happy for you and your family. i hope and pray that everything continues to turn out just fine.

THANKS BE TO GOD!

I don’t doubt for a second prayers were answered…mine was, because after I read your post on “What do moms want on Mother’s Day” and I responded…I said a prayer for you…and I am sure that I wasn’t the only one!

Hold her close…love her…Thank God!
