Catholic monastic communities often have good relations with non-catholic communities and with individuals who are not Catholic but who are seeking a life of prayer. In the film “Trappist” a prominent figure is a Methodist minister who visits Mepkin Abbey for at least a month every year . . .
I imagine there is a certain brotherhood or sisterhood among people who belong to religious orders regardless of denomination since they share a common experience.

The life is attractive and has depth. I am sure that is why as I noted in the OP, that the United Methodist and United Church of Christ both have a religious order (in both cases ecumenical and for married and single).

Christianity Today (last issue I believe) had an article on the renewed attraction among Protestants of Liturgy. It is being rediscovered in its beauty and depth.

Here is another order. It is a conservative order of Anglican Franciscans.

The Franciscan Order of the Divine Compassion.

You must be Anglican to join (either a member of the Communion or a continuing Anglican group with valid apostolic succession).

They have various components of the order (married and single).

*Note: Bishop Ackerman (Protector of the order) has IIRC retired. He was very Catholic and orthodox.

There are of course religious orders in the Anglican Church anglicansonline.org/resources/orders.html and Orthodox Churches as well as a few Luttheran orders BUT for those of you that didn’t know (as I didn’t) there is also a relgious order in the
United Church of Christ called the Order of Corpus Christi (orderofcorpuschristi.org/ ) and a United Methodist religious order called the Order of St. Luke (not to be confused with the Order of Saint Luke the Physcian) saint-luke.org/who/index.html . The order of Saint Luke (UMC) according to their web site is a religious order dedicated to liturgical renewal and scholarship and is ecumenical (ie men and women from other faith groups may become members of the order).

I think it is rather neat. I remember reading on the Anglican Brotherhood of Saint Gregory web site that they had been invited to attend Mass at a Roman Catholic order’s monestary (of course they could not receive communion).

Ahhhh…the sheer variety of religious life. Okay…I have not found a Southern Baptist Religious order yet.😃

It depends. There are many varieties of Baptist. I believe for the most part to pastor a Southern Baptist Church of any size, you will need an undergraduate degree and then three years of seminary (90 graduate hours). In fact, it is difficult to get a job in First Baptist Church of any size without a doctorate. This has been a trend in many mainline denominations.

As to Osteen I believe he has an undergraduate degree in Communications but no seminary degree.

This got slightly off topic but to bring it back, the above is another religious order. It appears the call to that sort of spirituality crosses denominational lines as we have United Church of Christ, Methodist, Lutheran and Anglican religious orders.

I am still waiting for a Southern Baptist religious order.
