Remarriage or Not?

My wife and I have been legally separated for two years. We have been married for 36 years. I begged for a separation not a divorce. How do I know if it’s God’s will for me to remarry? Should I remain with my wife as long as she does not remarry another, even though I live my life separated from her?

We really can’t answer that on a public forum. We can only give “ignorant” advice. My advice is to go talk to your pastor, and then your diocesan marriage tribunal.

If you’re Catholic, you need a declaration of nullity before you can “remarry.”

First of all, pray. It is in times like this that God’s grace is needed in our lives the most.
Secondarily, approach your pastor about an annulment. If it is possible, this would allow you and your wife to both remarry in the Church, if certain conditions are met.
