In my belongings yesterday I came across the little hand made Paten I held as I made my first Holy Communion when I was a child.Seeing it reminded me of the little nun who taught and instructed our small group of children ,driving an hour each way every week .And prayed for her.
I remember the woman who instructed my children also such a devout and lovely person that we were blessed to have.
Do you remember who instructed you for your first Holy Communion and to pray for them?
I must admit I need to try and remember that kind nun more often in my prayers.
She also had many catholic children’s books to borrow
in the boot(trunk) of her car that we looked forward to choosing from.

Sr. Olivia. She was a tall, smiling nun in a long black habit with a big white “collar,” much like Mother Angelica’s habit. I remember looking at her long rosary hanging down from her waist. I believe that somewhere, I have a prayer card that she gave each of us. I will have to look for it later and put it on my prayer shelf.

I pray these saints from our childhood are surrounded by heavenly joy.

That’s an uncharitable thing to say.

I remember. I should pray for the person as unfortunately it is not pleasant memories. I honestly remember almost no teaching related to the Sacrament. Instead I remember a lot of repeated drills about how to walk down the church aisle, and fuss about kneeling posture in the pews, and a nun upsetting my mother.

I think the main thing on most of my and my classmates’ minds was what would a host taste like.

I am sorry I was not more holy. I’d like to think God chuckled at us kids and gave us grace anyway.

We had 2 Sisters instructing us. I wanted to become a nun because of them. I felt God calling me to the religious life through them.Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to become a nun. But I still pray for them even though I’m sure they have now gone to be with Jesus.
