At mass a while ago there was a young woman wearing a veil. I have never seen another woman do this but didn’t really think anything of it. What surprised me was that just before going up to take communion, she removed the veil and was without it for the rest of the mass.

Is this normal practice for women who wear veils in mass? If so, why is the veil removed for communion?

It is not the norm. Perhaps she had a problem with hers.

As wearing a veil is not a requirement she can do anything she wants with it. Wear it. Not wear it. It makes no difference.

I don’t think anyone is disputing this. The question was about why this was done and if it is normal.

Why: no clue, maybe she has an odd practice, or maybe it was uncomfortable or she lost a pin or something.

Is it normal: No. Traditionally women keep the veil when in Church, even if not at Mass.

Thank you for your responses.
I didn’t think it could be the norm but I thought I’d ask anyway.
