Please pray a Hail Mary for me so I may have the strength to fight the temptations of lustful thoughts. In moments of weakness I view pornography. It is something I hate but I can’t seem to escape it. I go to confession and seem to do well for a time, but then I become weak again.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with you,
Blessed are you among women,
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
BrotherMentor, do not despair. God is with you, and He is giving you the grace to resist. It’s just that the lures of this world sometimes are too easy to be hooked on. Just remember this quote from Churchill: “Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” (Easier said than done at times, I know…)
For some practical help, take a look at Mark Hauck’s (sp?) The Kings Men Catholic Men’s ministry and some of the Catholic Hack podcasts if you have iTunes. Both of them have fought the same battle and have told their stories and told how they overcame the porn problem.
Nearly all of us guys have been there before. It’s a tough struggle. I’m praying for you.
