'About 61% of Catholic likely voters said that the pandemic made them feel differently about their faith. Meanwhile…

When asked if they would attend mass more or less frequently after the pandemic restrictions are lifted, 50% of all Catholic respondents (52% of likely Catholic voters) said they would attend more mass frequently.

Some Catholic leaders said Catholics might be less interested in going to mass after coronavirus restrictions ended. Just the opposite is true, it turns out.

What people say they are going to do and what people actually do think and do are two different things, most especially when it comes to opinion surveys dealing with church attendance, where an enormous proportion of those surveyed give false or misleading answers. They just tell the surveyors what the surveyors want to hear, especially if it makes themselves look “good”.

I wouldn’t count my chickens before they are hatched.

This is actually what I said. Makes sense. Many of us (myself included) started watching daily Mass. Even after I started going back to Mass (during Easter season, but several weeks after Easter Sunday), I STILL watch Mass daily. If I could go to Daily Mass, I would.

Interesting report. You could say people do not value what they have until they lose it. The Eucharist was most missed when it was not available.

After having been deprived of Mass attendance during this pandemic, I would say that Catholics are appreciating opportunities to attend much more. When we are without what we once had, we realize its value all the more. And human nature is such that sometimes we have to lose what we’ve taken for granted before we learn to stop taking it for granted.

Speaking for myself I’ve incorporated Saturday morning online Mass with whatever Novena I’m doing. After 6 months I have found that the two enhance each other. I intend to add Saturday morning Masses in conjunction with a Novena when we can again resume in person Masses.
