What puzzles me, is why are the actual Church leaders, of these people doing the persecuting, being petitioned about the extremists under their jurisdiction?

The affiliation mentioned in the article is labeled “traditionalists”. What does that mean? Are they Catholic? Doesn’t anyone know how to call on the Church leaders to help resolve this persecution?

Yes this does seem out of wack when only a selected few are being targeted. It sounds like the ones being targeted are in hiding and only these few are the only ones that have come out in opposition. Where are the rest of the Christians, and leaders as you say, from these congregations? 🤷

Peace!!!

Right. Obviously these Evangelicals are being unjustly treated. But are these “traditionalist” groups Catholic? Is anyone addressing the Bishops? Where are the Bishops for these areas? What are they doing in these communities?

Mexico has some serious issues. There is organized crime choking out the life.

Hi rc, I am puzzled by your questions. The article plainly states that the Traditional religion is the mix of Catholicism and indengenous beliefs. Is this not referring to the Catholic Church in Mexico?

Yes, these are the questions evangelical Christians have been asking for years as I understand the issue. Where is the leadership that the local priests answer to?

Perhaps. But what does that mean? That the Catholic Church is corrupted by pagan customs and beliefs? That is not orthodox Catholicism. It is a recipe for disaster. The Bishops are failing their duties, if that is the case. And obviously not just the Bishops, but the priests and lay faithful. They are setting up a false religion under the former of the Catholic faith.

Mexico is depressing.

Yes. Not sure about setting up…it has been entrenched for years.

Yes, I didn’t mean to suggest it is a new thing. These types are in Brazil too. They have all sorts of “religious” devotions, but lack faith, mercy, love, suffering.

Talking with friends last night who have gone on service trips to Haiti several times it was mentioned that there Catholicism is so mixed with voodoo and superstitious practice.

A basic question that comes to my mind is if it is true that Catholicism has been compromised in various countries, how has that happened? Is not the Pope/Vatican or whoever is responsible in the heirarchal system ultimately accountable for allowing the true message of Christ’s Church to be compromised? I find it troubling that people who do find Christ in the midst of all of this then are persecuted by the Traditional religion. Why is it allowed to continue?

Nine of the top ten most severely persecuted Christians is due to Islamic extremism. The top country for Christian persecution is the atheist regime in North Korea.

Are Catholics being persecuted too, or are they mixing enough Islamic traditions to satisfy the devils?

This may be true. Though some of it I question. For example, I was at an Evangelical youth service, and they showed pictures of a Saint feast day procession in the streets and described it, to the children, as false worship (idolatry of statues, and men).

It isn’t so black and white. Sometimes clergy may be more responsible, but I think a lot of times, the communities fall into false devotions (or having the form of religion, without the sincerity and faith).

For example, I spent a lot of time in Brasil, and the people have lots of issues. But I was impressed with the Priests. They (some more than others) actually would preach the issues. The people hear and ignore what they want. Here is a specific example… a family member has a “big devotion” to Padre Pio. Well, she decided to get a sterilization procedure done. I told her it is against the Church’s Teaching. She ignored and others argued with me. So I showed her the last letter of Padre Pio to the Pope, who wrote Humanae Vitae. He praised the Pope for the Teachings, and committed all his spiritual children to adhere to it.
