Is this a typo?

Even if so, it’s been there for a while, I’d say leave it alone.

It should have been spelled Requiescat.

Don’t know if it’s a typo, but it is a misspelling. I don’t say a typo because I see it spelled that way all over the place and a typo implies a mistake versus just not knowing how it is spelled in the first place.

I’ve been told this is how we got the alternative spelling of ‘eundem’ as ‘eumdem’: it began as a common medieval misspelling that still seems to find its way into Latin-English missals.
