“First of all, there is no intermediary more powerful than religion (whereof the Church is the interpreter and guardian) in drawing the rich and the working class together, by reminding each of its duties to the other, and especially of the obligations of justice.”
RERUM NOVARUM 19
“But, if Christian precepts prevail, the respective classes will not only be united in the bonds of friendship, but also in those of brotherly love.”

What is the plan going forward, to compensate for the demise of Christianity, for the protection of the poor, besides charity?

Can you explain more about “demise of Christianity” and what “charity” means in your usage?

Short of those clarifications, the “plan going forward” is to teach all people to love one another as Christ loves us.

Demise:

Charity: Relying on people to be good (are they?), and thus giving to local charities (not international), in the amount needed to help the poor (5 dollars after a purchase at ____ store is not enough).

For the plan going forward, I propose that teaching people to be moral has failed in times of high religiosity, and probably won’t improve in the future. Rerum Novarum did not mention teaching people to be moral, rather the teachings to help the poor from the Church in combination with having to be in the same church as the poor makes one more likely to help.
