Hi guys. Just thought I’d relate a little incident to ya. Last week I dropped my daughter off at ccd and went to do a litle Christmas shopping. When I was done shopping I went out to my car and it wouldn’t start. I felt a wave of panic because I knew I had to get my daughter or she would worry.

I don’t own a cell phone so I went back into the store and used the pay phone to call my parents who don’t live far from the school where she had class. The phone was busy.

Now I’m really starting to panic. My husband was at work and too far away to reach her in any reasonable amount of time. The only thing I could think of was store that work at was right up the street. So I called there and spoke to my manager.

I’ve known him for over ten years (this is second company that I’ve worked with him at.) I jokingly refer to him as a “stark raving Baptist.” He’s a fundementalist Baptist and we’ve had many “discussions” through the years, mostly light hearted but some pretty heated about the faith.

Anyway I quickly relay my circumstances as my level of panic rises in my voice as I talk. He didn’t have anyone to spare to drive me over to pick her up but he sent someone to get me and then offered me his car to pick her up. When I got to my store I ran in to get his keys. He had a big grin on his face and held the keys up saying “Before I give you my keys you have to say one thing.”

So I say “What?”

He says “You have to say the Baptist saved me.”
I laughed and said “The Baptist saved me, now give me the keys.”

I ended up taking his car (he offered) to my parents after getting my daughter (only 5 minutes late) because their phone was accidently left off the hook. I was then able to get help from my dad. My managered had offered to take me and my daughter home after work if I couldn’t get them.

He’s been joking ever since that it was a Baptist that came to my rescue. He knows I belong to a Catholic forum so I promised to post his good deed for all to see.😃

Faith WORKING through love… How wonderfully Catholic of your Baptist friend. 😃

All kidding aside, there are kind, wonderful people from all religions/beliefs.

God bless your Baptist friend and I am glad you and your daughter made it safely home. 👍

The Baptist’s heart is in the right place. Now if his intellect would only follow . . . heh heh

Don’t forget to let him know that it was the Catholic Church that rescued him by giving him the Bible!😉

I love it! I love it! I love it! Gotta write this stuff down!:rotfl:

I relayed your comment to my manager this morning. He was mildly amused. 😃 When I mentioned you were an ex-baptist he said Tell him I’ll pray for him.:gopray:

You must thank your Baptist friend for his SAVING INTERCESSION and be sure to console him by letting him know his good deed does not in any way interfere with or compete with the goodness of God that He wants to share with all of us (and with each other)
