Hi,
I have to write a 7-10 page reasearch paper on an issue in the roman catholic church from past or now or write about a saint. I was just wondering if anyone can help me with a topic that I can write about for 7-10 pages that I can find info on the internet

True, but I would pick a definite topic within the Counter Reformation or it might be too much for the student. Pick Ignatius of Loyola and the Jesuits and how they affected the Counter-Reformation. Pick the Council of Trent and its reforms. Pick St. Theresa of Avila or St. John of the Cross and how they affected the Counter Reformation. Pick St. Charles Borromeo and how he affected the Council of Trent and thus the Counter Reformation.

The Orthodox seperation, but the reformation is always good. Or do something like St. Jerome, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Agustine. If I had to pick one of those I would choose Agustine. You can write hundreds of pages on his The Confessions, his autobiography.

A very interesting topic would be the Rome-Avignon split from 1378 to 1414 where both cities claimed to have a validly elected Pope, which led to a deterioration in the prestige of the Church and which paved the way for the storm called the Reformation.

Why don’t you write about St. Josemaria Escriva and the foundation and development of Opus Dei?

With the Da Vinci Code being so popular, Opus Dei has been the topic of much debate in recent days. Maybe you could write about what the movement is really about and set the record straight.

I’m sure there would be a lot of material to write about there.

If the student’s teacher is a liberal Catholic, he/she will go insane at the very names of St. Escriva de Balaguer or the Opus Dei!

Doesn’t “research paper” imply you should be doing your own research instead of us doing it for you?
