Anyone know of any good resources for unmarried Catholic couples? I know of “The Catholic Handbook for Engaged & Newly Married Couples,” which I don’t have yet, but I’m looking for anything similar. We’re not engaged yet, but plan to be within the next year. I’m REALLY looking for websites, although books are appreciated too. 🙂

It also seems the temptations become worse the closer we get, so any resources on chastity would be helpful, as well. We’re always praying for the temptations to go away, but I suppose the temptations are normal, being a couple in love, as long as we continue to fight them…however, encouragement/articles/sites to help us along would be great! :yup:

…visit the Catholic Answers website… look in the library. i don’t think you will be disappointed…👍

I highly suggest Naked Without Shame by Christopher West.

It’s a 10 cd set. It was great for listening during the commute, though I had to rewind more than a few times when I spaced out.

It isn’t a resource for couples, per se, but it’s so much more than that which is what makes it so great.

Look at www.nakedwithoutshame.com.

Anything by Christopher West is probably an incredible start. Yes, temptations are only “natural”, but they don’t necessarily have to be there… No, I’m not trying to advertise, but I had to post this. If you’re looking for specifics, the Naked Without Shame set mentioned above is good, and so is Christopher West’s Good News About Sex & Marriage and Theology of the Body Explained. Or you could go directly to the source and try reading Pope JPII’s Theology of the Body. I have never read anything more beautiful than what I’ve found in the Theology of the Body (other than the Bible, of course), and really starting to live all of this is the most beautiful thing that I’ve ever done… And you might find Christopher West’s story inspiring.

Hi Megan,

One of my favorite books, which I stumbled upon when my husband and I were engaged, is “For Better For Ever” by Greg Popcak. It’s a terrific Catholic guide to marriage, family, and love in general. You can also check out his website at www.exceptionalmarriages.com - it has some good articles and info. “Passion and Purity” by Elisabeth Elliott is a good book as well. As far as dealing with temptations, I found Joshua Harris’ “When Girl Meets Boy” and anything by Eric and Leslie Ludy helpful. ericandleslie.com/

Best wishes! Enjoy this beautiful time in your life and the work God is doing with you.

Hey Megan,

Just wanted to pop in and tell you some of the books that “we” (meaning I lol) have been reading:

“Love Life for Every Couple”—written by Protestant, but is worth looking at and taking his advice because its good, not because of his “Bible-only” rhetoric…still, I learned a LOT about how to glorify my fiance and how to make our relationship better

“Marriage is For Keeps”

*****“Life-Giving Love”—This is a GREAT book! It’s so touching and shows what sexual love is supposed to be all about!

Also, all of the books on ccli.org are GREAT! That is the organization that teaches NFP and they know what they’re talking about when they suggest books. I think that you can get the books at a fairly reasonable price while the proceeds go to a great cause.
good luck!
