Resources for RCIA Catechist

I was recently asked by the RCIA director and pastor to join my parish’s RCIA team. My Diocese doesn’t have a program to prepare catechist but instead offers a curriculum to follow. The curriculum is a little lacking so my parish has the catechist expand on it, prepare longer presentations and lead discussions. While I feel I have a pretty solid grasp on the basics of the faith I still feel underprepared. Does anyone know of any resources other than the catechism that would help with catechisis and expand my knowledge of the faith.

My parish has Formed though I haven’t been on in a while. I’ll check it out again for sure.

In particular, look at the Symbolon program on Formed. It was created with RCIA in mind.

I would also encourage you to look at the resources from ACM (the Association for Catechumenal Ministry). They have a Catechist Manual that gives lesson plans for about 60 different topics. The outlines are very helpful in providing the bullet points for the highlights to hit in each topic. Plus they give all the Scripture and Catechism references, which is very helpful, too.

Eric, I watched “Presence” before and I thought it was great. I started watching “Forgiven” and I plan on finishing it this evening. Thank you for suggesting it.
