I am new to this forum, so I apologize if I am logging in incorrectly or starting a new thread unnecessarily, but I couldn’t find this topic discussed previously.
I am a Catholic Mom and would like to see our Parish school include a Respect Life Curriculum. We currently have a “Family Life” series beginning in 5th grade, which is primarily a discussion on puberty and anatomy, but it does not adequately address the Church’s teachings on the Sanctity of Human Life in a comprehensive manner.
I have done some on-line research and found this program www.cpforlife.org/curriculum to be impressively thorough.
I feel that if we are to impact our culture’s view on abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell use, and other threats to human life, we must properly impart to our younger generation what the Church teaches (and why) on these critical issues.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or experience of successfully implementing a Respect Life Curriculum into their Catholic school? Fortunately, our Priest and Principal are very pro-life, but we have not found a pre-packaged curriculum that can be easily implemented. I have asked our Diocesan staff for guidance, but they too are unaware of a successful Respect Life Curriculum. Although they support the concept, this effort is not a “priority for them at this time”.
Sincerely, a Catholic Sidewalk Counselor at abortion clinics in California, offering women assistance they may need so that they are better able to choose LIFE for their unborn child.
