When thinking of the resurrection of the body…

What does our soul reunite with if there is no body?

Cremains scattered in the ocean, people chopped up to tiny pieces, etc…

Will God put these little pieces back together?

Fertilized ova? What will happen to them?

the soul reunites with the reconstituded physical body.
yes, God can do that, why not?

Yes, there is no problem for God to recreate every atom and to put together yours and my body. After all, he knows the position of every atom and molecule in the Universe.

There really is no difference between an embryo (never was a body) and someone dead five hundred years (no longer a body).

In neither case is there a problem. What we know as the human body is unsuitable for life everlasting, because chained to the law of entropy, so will finally run down. Just as God provides the “body” of the oak tree that supersedes the acorn, etc, He will build in Eternity, for everyBODY, the BODY that will hold life everlasting. Saint Paul calls this the pneumatikon soma.

It doesn’t have to be the same atoms 🙂 The atoms in our body change every year. I guarantee the atoms that form your skin and bones now won’t be the atoms that do so in 10 years whether you are alive or dead. What we do know is at the end of time God will give us glorified bodies (real bodies and as much a part of us as they are now but much better).

Even more a part of you than your human body is now; because the body (pneumatikon soma) will never again be separable from
your psyche or mind. You will be fully spiritual, and fully body. You will think with your body, and move and breathe with your mind.

What makes you you are not the actual atoms you are made of at the moment of death : the same atoms may become part of hundreds of individuals. What makes you is your DNA. God will recreate your body, not necessarily with the same atoms but wth the same DNA.

Not necessarily even the DNA, as that can be corrupted, as in the case of Down syndrome or thalidomide children.

For that matter, if there is no longer a body, there will in most cases be no DNA left. No-one from the time of our LORD still has DNA left in the world.

Your human soul, which formed with the body, is the pattern for the body. The soul will form the body around “it” self. With or without the DNA.

So the body will die again because DNA is designed to do that to us?..

I believe the final reality is … we do not know how we will be 'reconstituted" because we will not be returned to 'the world" as we know it today. “The world will be swept away”, “there will be no more death or suffering”, “we will be like the angels”, “there will be no giving or taking in marriage” (so much for the reward of 72 maidens, or was it 100?).

We will have “glorified bodies” that are eternal and thus while “physical” not as we know it Scotty - because they are in some way ethereal too as Christ’s resurrected body proves.

So we just don’t know what it means cos it is a level of reality that hasn’t been released for public consumption yet; except to Jesus and maybe Mary who eventually got pre-release models (Jesus got the prototype which proved to be perfect). They kept them pretty much under wraps though, only showing them to their most trusted friends). Word got out through his friends and I believe each of us can expect one within a 100 years or so. Or it could be suddenly much sooner. But they are expensive, you have to start paying the price now. Given the personal lifestyle changes such saving requires it has been predicted that only the dedicated will have the wherewithall to purchase one when they do become available.

Not only will He reconstitute our body, He will make it incorruptable and perfect. We shall be raised incorruptable.
