When the creed speaks of “resurrection of the body” does that mean that long dead corpses will be resuscitated and reconstituted whole and living?

At death, our souls leave our bodies and these mortal bodies return to dust. At the end of time, our bodies will be resurrected, changed into glorious, spiritual bodies, and reunited with our souls. The Catechism explains, “God, in his almighty power, will definitively grant incorruptible life to our bodies by reuniting them with our souls, through the power of Jesus’ Resurrection” (CCC 997).

For more on this see the Catechism section I Believe in the Resurrection of the Body.
