We went to our Retrouvaille weekend and I can say it was profound. It was intense, 2 1/2 days of tough, tough work, but we came away in a better place than our marriage has been in qt least 5 or 6 years. We learned a lot about ourselves, about each other, and learned to communicate in ways we have not done in a long time. We recognize there is still much work to be done, but we both came away eager to make that happen. I would encourage any struggling couples to give it a chance.

Thanks to the grace of God! That is very good news, and thanks for sharing it.

Another update: We have been trying to do the daily dialogue that the program requires, but it is not always easy and there have been setbacks. It underscores how hard this recovery process is. No quick fixes here at all. Pray that we will have the strength to continue on this journey.

May our Blessed Mother Mary intercede for both of you to have the grace of persistence, with peace, joy, and love.

It is a lot of work, but you didn’t get into trouble overnight so it won’t be fixed overnight! Are you attending the follow-up weekends? We found them very helpful.

We are attending the followup sessions and yes, they have been helpful. We have had a few very good weeks in a row after a couple of major setbacks. But if we can take two or three steps forward for each one backward, we are going places. And hopefully soon it will be five or six for each one backward, and then 9 or 10 for each one backward, and then maybe no more backward at all. … We do recognize that it is a lot of work, but we also both are on board with doing the work, which is most important. And you are correct that the problems didn’t arise overnight and won’t be fixed overnight. God, continue to give us strength to forgive and heal and love unconditionally …
