I guess I should start with a little of my background.

I had been away from the Church for many, many years. Although I didn’t attend Church, I occassionally prayed, but didn’t realize that I needed the Church to be a part of my life until my mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. I began attending daily mass at a Roman Catholic Church, and found a great deal of comfort in the mass and it has helped me grow in my faith.

However, I my heart lies with the Byzantine Rite. It’s the Church in which I was raised. It had been over 20 years since I set foot in a Byzantine Church, that was until my mother’s funeral on September 5, 2012. I have attended Divine Liturgy a couple of times since then, and I recall it very well. I find myself crying at times, because being back in the Church fills me with such happiness and also sorrow, since I had been away for so long.

As I rediscover the Church, are there any resources any of you can recommend to help me rebuild my knowledge of our traditions and fatih?

Welcome home!

Thank you everyone! I can’t wait to look into these recommendations!

The best way is to just start attending a Byzantine parish. So, when you say Byzantine, do you mean Ruthenian Greek Catholic?

Regardless, check out a radio program by Fr. Tom Loya called “Light of the East”

For the Life of the World: Sacraments and Orthodoxy by Rev. Fr. Schmemman. (Just ignore the chapter on marriage and the comments on the pope.)
