I turned back to God and his church this year, after almost 4 decades. My church had opened a Holy Door through the Year of Mercy.
Chatting with new found friends, this has been a common , although extraordinary event in the Diocese with decades lapsed catholics, and with converts this year.

Have other Diocese experienced this over the Year of Mercy?

Welcome Home to the One True Church!

I would imagine that many others have had the same experience. Check out the Coming Home Network (which also carries the Journey Home episodes)…

for stories like yours. Look at the filters on the right for Catholic revert.

Thankyou for the warm welcome home. Thanks johnnyc for that link.

One thing I have noticed - the church image has changed from the scary image of vengence, hell, sulphur fires, rampaging angels , raining brimstone of pre 80s to love, mercy, joy, forgiveness of 2016.

Not sure if that was a misconception from childhood in convent education, or a result of pastoral direction.

I don’t know about my own diocese, but apparently at Westminster Cathedral they had a bumper crop of converts at the Easter Vigil this year.

This is certainly true, but we need to be mindful that teaching either to the exclusion of the other is dangerous. Forgiveness starts with repentance after all.
