Revelation 17 - 8th Kingdom to come?

I’m reading through Revelation 17, I’ve come across Rev 17:7-11 7 Then the angel said to me: “Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides, which has the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.

9 “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. 10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while. 11** The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction. **

I’ve read that this may be attributed to Domitian who was seen as Nero, but is the 8th kingdom the kingdom which is for the Antichrist who will come in the near future?

Ver. 11. The beast that was, and is not: is the eighth: and is of the seven. The devil reigns with the kings in all these ages: he is of the seven, because he is the prince under whom reign the wicked in all ages: he is also the eighth, inasmuch as he is their prince, and they are only his instruments. 17:8 The beast is the devil. This one, having been slain by the cross of Christ, it is said, will again be revived at the end of the world, performing the denial of the Savior in signs and wonders of deception through the Antichrist. Therefore he was because he was exerting his power before the cross. He is not because after the saving passion he had been enfeebled and his power, which he had held over the nations through idolatry, had been displaced. He will come at the end of the world in the manner which we had said rising up out of the abyss, or from where he had been condemned — where the demons cast out had beseeched Christ not to be sent, but instead into the swine — or he will come out of the present life which is figuratively called abyss because of the depth of the indwelling of sin which is blown and tossed about by the winds of the passions. 17:9 **seven heads: **The heads of the beast, he says, are the kings of the world, who through the swelling of pride are said to be like exceeding high mountains, on whom there rests a wanton ungodliness, so that they both oppress by violence, and deceive by fraud. (St. Bede) Or it is, the city of Rome. (St. Victorinus)

17:10 He says seven were specifically responsible for causing the beast to raise up his head against the Christians, by stirring up persecutions against the Church. These were first Nero, second Domition, then Trajan, Severus, after him Decius, Valerian, and Diocletian. When these were the emperors of Rome, they persecuted the Church without restraint, as Eusebius says in the Chronicle. He says that of these seven, five have fallen by death; but that there was still one, that is, Valerian. (Oecumenius)

That was a project that i started but only got a couple of chapters done, though i would eventually like to finish it. I am working on a big project right now for the Glossa Ordinaria which is taking a large amount of my time. I would be happy to get all the comments that I can on this passage in Revelation if you like, and even make a webpage for it. Let me know and I can have it done in a day or so.

I see the seven hills as the seven continents, and Revelation 13:18 appears to refer to human cloning…so the overall read is global, and futuristic, and fits the scripture perfectly.

Seven kings (world rulers) are described, some of whom are fallen, some not. If discerned, this gives the TIMING of Antichrist’s appearance, for “he is of the seven and is the eighth.” My best candidate for Antichrist is a clone of Hitler. Hitler, himself died in 1945. That would be the beginning of the world reign of seven kings. Who are “the seven kings” Possibly Rothschilds. If the sequential reign of seven world kings began in 1945, a timeline could be constructed for the appearance of the eighth.
