Revelation 22:11 says:
“Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong”

One of my classmates asked about this to our Bible teacher and he couldn’t answer it. Basically my friend was saying that the Bible is contradicting itself by saying this, because the Bible also teaches us that we should teach, rebuke and lead people in the right direction. Now I know the Bible is perfect, without any faults, but how do we explain that verse?

Hi

It seems to me after reading the chapter that what the angel is saying refers to the end of time, just before Christ comes again. When He (Christ) actually appears it is too late to repent, because we are saved by Faith…when we actually see the Truth coming in Glory it is too late. Therefore the angel is saying - “let everyone remain as they are in their relationship (or lack of) to God - him who is holy let him remain, him who is vile let him remain vile, and each will go to their reward”

Also - Scripture isn’t ‘perfect’ per say, and thin ice is where I’m treading here but…if Scipture were absolutely perfect there would be absolute agreement in the Gospels especially - but alas there isn’t…there are a lot of minor differences in the narratives - none of which come to mind right now (of course), but Scipture is materially perfect - in that what is necessary for our understanding and Salvation is there - uncorrupted, however - we need the Church to explain that because although Scipture is materially sufficient it is not formally suficient. In other words - although what we need to know is there in material, you can’t just sit down and read it like a set of instructions. We need formal instruction to achieve salvation, and that formal instruction can only come from the institution set up by Christ for that purpose - Our Holy Catholic Church.

Hope that makes sense 🙂

Peace

John
