In Revelations Chapter 22:11 what does wash their robe in the blood of the lamb mean and what is the tree of life. Also where in the bible does it speak of Hell as a place where we will burn in fire forever if we die in mortal sin. Thank you, Brenda

Here are some commentaries from various non-Catholics which should help. Note that Catholic interpretations may differ. Use the arrows at the top to change the verse, or type, for instance, “Rev 22:14” in the box and press the red button.

To answer the second part of your question first, there are quite a few quotes in the Bible which describe Hell as a place of eternal burning. I’ll just give a few -

Mark 9:43
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out
Matthew 25:41
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed,** into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. **
Jude 1:7
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. **They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. **
On the first question about Revelation 22 viz. washing in the blood of the lamb, that’s pretty straight forward - it refers to those who are covered by the sacrifice of Christ as the Lamb of God.

The “tree of life” is a symbolic reference to eternal life, and hearkens back to Genesis when the disobedience of our first parents meant that we were subject to eternal spiritual death.
