New ideas on priestly formation
Thought this might make for an interesting discussion.
I agree with much of it and disagree on some points. Looking for (name removed by moderator)ut from others as a starting point.

That may be,but they are also Catholic priests who sent a letter of ideas, some of them very good ones, to the people who form Priest’s. I would not dismiss everything they say.

I would like to see ideas from a fresh perspective, but these ideas are from a familiar perspective. They reflect the mindset that constantly tries to erode the sacramental, or supernatural, character of the priesthood; rather make the priest a social worker, almost identical to a layperson.

It does not really reflect Vatican II at all, but rather the secular media’s view of what the clergy should be like. This kind of perspective had influence in many seminaries in the West, for a few decades starting in the 1960s. Most of the seminaries reflecting this influence have since closed, or been revamped since the 1990s.

The Association of U.S. Catholic Priests (AUSCP) was founded in 2011 by twentyseven
priests from 11 states at St. Mary’s Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois.

St Mary’s is very reputable.
