Hi all,:tiphat:

This is the first time I post a new thread.:bounce: I was wondering if there are many Right to Life/Pro-life leaders here. It would be great if there was a lot of us and we could have our own forum. We could exchange ideas and stuff. It also would be great to see what is working in one place and what has not. Just a thought.

That is an excellent idea! Is there anyone out there who has organized a Face the Truth tour (see www.prolifeaction.org/facethetruth/ ) ?

I am trying to do that here in my city- so far I have 23 signs and am checking out my city’s policies on demonstrations. But if anyone has experience with that I would appreciate any tips! Thanks!

Also, recently I have been thinking of having a sign made that says “A Vote for Kerry is a Vote for Abortion” flanked with signs of partial-birth, first, and second trimester abortions. What do you think of that idea?

If anyone is at a university I suggest starting a Students for Life group. We have one here at the university of Toronto. They engage the ‘opposition’ in debates and the like. Good stuff I tell ya!

We had something like that here in Shediac and it went over quite well. We were fortunate that the mayor at that time was very pro-life. I have been in contact with a strong pro-life student going into grade 12 in Moncton and I am hoping that she can start to get some others her own age to participate.
If you young people only knew how much we appreciate your help.:yup:
We have a student in the French University that has been trying to get people involved but I don’t think he is having much success since it is a very liberal university.😦
One of the most important thing is to ban together because you know that old saying “united we stand and devided we fall”.
Here is our site for Right to Life in Moncton it not much but it’s better than nothing and it’s free.😃 www.dvmrl.knows.it

Yes! I’d love a forum to discuss this stuff 👍 , in the meantime we’ll just use this thread.

Here’s the web page for the group I am with:
(any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? I am in charge of keeping the website updated/growing)

Hi jess7396,

Nice site. I see that you have a yearly brunch. Is that to raise money, educate or both? We have a yearly benefit dinner; the money was used to put commercials on TV. This year we had a speaker Denise Mountenay from Silent no More. They seem to have been very effective. I guess your www.lifenews.com is the equivelent to our www.lifesite.net in Canada. Do you have many young people in your group?

We have an annual Luncheon and a Brunch as well, the purpose is to educate as well as energize, we pretty much break even money wise. Our latest speaker was Theresa Burke from Rachel’s Vineyard, she was great. I have only been with the group for about a year, but in the past they have had many impressive speakers, I know they had somemone from Silent No More a few years ago, they even had Fr. Pavone once 😃 I wish I had been here for that.

At 27, I am the youngest person (by quite a lot) on the board for our group, we are focused on starting a “teen night” to educate and energize the youth, I think the youth are our key.

Any thoughts for great speakers who would energize teens and adults alike?

Hey Jess,
At the pro-life fair I organized for my school we flew in Annie Schiedler Casselman (Joe Schiedler’s daughter and the director of Generations for Life). She’s pretty young and very articulate and a great speaker! (check out prolifeaction.org/actionnews/2004v23n2/generations.htm under El Paso Fair 4 Life) Go to prolifeaction.org/generations/ and on the right side, click on “Invite Annie to speak” for a speakers form.

Also, this year we are trying to get former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino (there’s no way a pro-choicer can argue with a former abortionist!) to speak.

Keep up the good work!

pro-life_teen-

Last year we had Joe Schiedler here too, he was a great speaker, it would be great to have his daughter come too, thanks for the suggestion.

Have you, pro-life_teen, seen the “Truth Unmasked” computer CD for teens? It is fabulous, if you haven’t seen it, you could PM me the address to your group and I will send you a copy, we think it is great for teens.

Can I pick your brain some? It’s been a few years since I have been a teen, and I would love to talk to you about our developing teen nights. What kind of things do you think would be good for a teen night, our goal is to educate the teens, help them to speak effectively about abortion (using Making Abortion Unthinkable from Life Issues), and most importantly ENERGIZE the next generation of pro-life leaders. I would love to hear your ideas on this. Right now, we are going to concentrate on getting the confirmation classes to come, there are no local “Teens for Life” groups–YET! 😉

I am so thankful for this thread!

Another question for everyone. We have just been asked to put together a presentation for a local Catholic Elementary School. Of course, the focus would be fetal development and we would not actually talk about abortion.

We are thinking of bringing in the fetal models to pass around (also going to bring in my baby 😉 ), we are going to leave the teachers the “You are a Masterpiece” video to show as a follow up, and I was thinking in the letter that goes home prior to us coming, we could ask parents to send in any ultrasound pics they have from the children. I would love to hear more thoughts/ideas. Thanks!

That is something we will have look into here is Priest for Life in Canada. I will have to contact our local one here so we can maybe get the national one for next year dinner. Thanks for the idea. Well Jess as far as the fetal models go that is a great idea. We had an exhibit at a local flea market and those were the most popular item. I tried to find a video for the 4d ultra sound gemedicalsystems.com/rad/us/4d/virtual.html for our computer to display it but was not successful. If any of you know where to get it that would be great. We have not gone into catechism classed for presentations yet. And if you think you’re the youngest in your group ours average 40 years or over. I am hoping that the girl I have been in contact with this summer will be able to get the young people more involved. The evangelicals are beating us on this subject because their leaders are behind them 100%. They are also at the same time evangelizing like crazy. We on the other hand in this parish have to almost do back flips to get our priests and those running the parishes to help us out. Oh well, it’s all in God’s hands I guess. Sending that letter home is a great idea.:clapping:

You are so right on this, I don’t know where the pro-life movement would be without the evangelicals, sadly, the Catholics are not even close to doing what they (we) should.

You’re more than welcome to “pick my brain” just let me know what you want to know! Regarding some ideas for a teen pro-life group, some great places to look for teens are any CPCs in your area, and ask is they have any teen volunteers or volunteers with children, who will most probably be very pro-life. You can also check for young volunteers at a retirement center or something similar, chances are if they recognize the value of life in the elderly, they will in the unborn.

I think one of the biggest things is education because once you KNOW what abortion is, and about fetal development, there is no way you can just sit on the sidelines!

By the way, I think the idea of having the parents send in ultraound pics is INSPIRED! Wow, that will really hit home, showing kids that they REALLY were that small, and that the victims of abortion are just like them!
