At age 85.

Best known to some people for promoting diabetes testing supplies for Liberty Medical, but I also remember him from the movies Cocoon and The Natural.

I was surprised to learn he was only 49 (the age I am now) when he was cast as a retirement home resident in Cocoon.

I own a copy of The Natural, and have put it on the pile to watch hopefully later this week.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I did watch “Cocoon”, but only once. It was too emo for me.
I mostly remember ol’ Wilford from his Quaker Oats ads.

He shall forever be remembered for…

We used to enjoy his show Our House, where he was grandpa to young Shannon Doherty, her brother and sister. A bit cranky, but loveable.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And may he Rest In Peace.

Huh. I don’t remember that show and had no idea Shannon was in anything prior to “Beverly Hills 90210”. (I was insanely jealous of her looks on that show, and am sad that she has had so many life and health problems since she left it.)

Didn’t he play the Postmaster General in an episode of ‘Seinfeld’? He was everyone’s grandpa.

I was a big Little House fan for many years, but quit watching around the time they started introducing all kinds of new “kid” characters not in the original books, all of which I had read and re-read, so I missed her time on that show.

Btw, I haven’t been able to find it, but I believe Ray Liotta made one appearance on Little house when he was young.

I loved him as “Pop Fisher” in the Natural, and the old guy who helps the lost kids in the “Ewok Adventure.” Between them and Quaker oats commercials, this guy was firmly in my wheelhouse as a kid.

That Absence of Malice movie was such a jumbled mess with literally all the characters committing huge breaches of ethics left and right. Wilford was the only character who made any sense in the whole thing.

He was also Dr. Blair in The Thing. Almost unrecognizable due to no mustache.

I enjoyed that show too.

Shannon Daugherty played Kris, the teenager who had aspirations to attend the Air Force Academy right?

His last tweet was almost as good as Eva Kor’s. If Twitter was more like those two and less like what it is, I’d be a fan.

I just took a look at this Twitter thread. This person has evidently done quite a bit of legwork to dig up evidence that @RealWilfordB is an impostor account.

Apparently, the really Real Wilford didn’t even own a computer. Multiple people said they confirmed this fact.
