So I’m watching the second RoboCop movie. And I’ve never understood why this movie was necessary. Tom Noonan is a great villain, he’s a great actor, but besides that. Was the torture scene necessary when we had the scene in the first where he’s shot?

Thoughts?

The main thing I remember from that movie is the ultra sunblock commercial. shudders

Also, it was a rare movie to not have the title at the beginning at all, before modern superhero movies (like the Dark Knight Trilogy and many of the Marvel movies) made it a trend.

That’s true.

The first was just so good and the second was just so… average.

Rotten Tomatoes scores:

Robocop: Critics - 89%, Audience - 84%

Robocop 2: Critics - 31%, Audience - 36%

And #2 was directed by Irvin Kirshner, who also made what many fans consider to be the best Star Wars movie, The Empire Strikes Back.

Never seen Robocop. Is it good? If so what is the age rating?
Let’s just say it’s not for kids. It almost got either an X or an NC17 for violence.
It is extremely violent, which is why it was originally given an X rating in 1987, before having some cuts made to earn an R rating.

Many home video versions have the uncut, X-rated version. So beware.
