Role of young adults in church

Hello

I’ve often heard it being said . . . family is the most basic and most important unit in the church/ society because it’s because the family bond that faith and morals are taught/grow.

But what about the young adults (19-25) who aren’t married and probably won’t at least until they’ve matured and can actually afford to have a family?

1. Is the role of young adults as important as the role of a good faithful family. How so?
2. What is the most important thing to be doing at this age in order to honor God, country, family, self (in that order) in his future mature years?

Ps- BTW happy valentines day hope you’re enjoying I sure am. Walking around the city looking into cafe’s observing the antics of all the couples XD

Unless we’re orphans or on very bad terms with our families of origin, we all have families–parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, maybe even grandparents and great aunts and great uncles, nieces, nephews, SILs, BILs, etc.

So, I would encourage single people with reasonably functional families of origin to enjoy their families of origin, especially the newest generation.

I agree. the definition of family is not limited to parents with kids.

There used to be single organizations in our parish before Vatican11. I don’t know what happened to them. We also for high school for girls had the Young Ladies Sodality. Does anyone remember this? We had parish activities, dances and picnics as well as helping the parish out with bake sales, dinners,etc.

There are many Church ministries for the young unmarried adults to become involved with to act as roles models for the children of the Parish. For example; EMHC, Lectors, Altar Society, RCIA, CCD, Teen Club, etc. It is usaually the young unmarried adults of the Parish who have the time to expend on/in these ministries.
