Are there any Roman records of Christ’s crucifixion? Would there be any records of the two who were crucified with him? My dad was wondering if they were thieves, crucifixion wouldn’t be warrented but only for something much worse.

They were highwayman, so they would have done more wrong than just petty thievery.

Yes, there are records: Jewish historian, Josephus, 93 AD, and Roman historian, Tacitus, 116 AD.

Any more records, other then what we have, that the Romans, or Jewish, had have, in all likely hood have become dust. :)🙂

That, and the Romans wouldn’t have cared a great deal about three outlaws who weren’t Roman citizens being executed in some backwater of the empire. I doubt that such records were even made.

From what I’ve heard, the Romans kept records of just about everything. If there were any records of the execution it would be at most a list of who and what for at most. JMO:)

If you google “Historic records of Christ’s crucifixion” you’ll find the writings of Josephus, and Tacitus. There are a couple of others also.

Peter asked to be crucified upside down as he was unequal to die the same as Christ. I think the Romans who were killing him knew of whom he spoke.
