Thank you all very kindly for all the nice posts!
Well, one ofyou said why Do I live in sin? Well basically, I’ve had a major addiction to internet pornography for the past 7 years; I’m only 25. It started back in 1999 when we got our first computer.
You see, I’m a computer science major and I know A LOT about the computer and the internet. My knowledge has opened up many doors for internet porn.
I am living in sin because I have pornography on my hard drive. That is why I’m living in sin. Right now,as I type this it is 7am. I just got back from the blessed sacrament…I prayed the divine mercy chaplet there and I talked to Jesus. I know he can deliver me from anything. I also know that Mary has powerful intercession. I guess I’ll have to try harder.
I know I can’t give up my PC,because I do all my college homework on it.
Please pray for me,
Nathan =)
Hi. One or two suggestions come to mind, don’t know what you’ve tried. Can you at least not have internet acces on that computer if not give up the computer itself? At the very least don’t keep porn on your hard drive, that’s making it just WAAAAAAAAY too easy.
Wipe off what you’ve got on there right this second, and resolve not to download any more onto your computer at the very least. First step with any addiction, an alcoholic would rid the house of alcohol, a chocoholic would clear the pantry of chocolate, same principle applies here.
Put up nice big pictures of Christ or Mary as your wallpaper and screensavers to remind you every time you see 'em that your computer, as everything else you possess, is really a gift from God. In fact tape a holy card to your monitor so you can see the darn thing all the time (St Michael the Archangel is a good one, since you’re battling sin).
Pray regularly - I find the St Michael prayer and the Memorare prayer to Mary especially helpful. Above all learn to pray at even the slightest temptation, so as to avoid sin, not just after you’ve sinned. In fact pray every single time you power up your computer or click on an internet link.
Only use your computer in public areas (libraries, the lounge room or what have you) where others can see what you’re doing. I’d imagine that’d take the fun out of it!
And rest assured of my prayers. Don’t wait for God, arm yourself and fight against this.
