My Catholic friends and I have been praying the rosary outside of an abortion clinic for the past three weeks. We usually divide ourselves into two groups, and pray the rosary in a “call-back” pattern.

However, the behavior of the employees at the abortion clinic are a bit strange:
  • They take pictures of us…alot
  • They walk around us more than is necessary
  • They played loud music (probably to sound us out I’m guessing)
Has anyone else ever had a similar experience? Why would they take pictures of us? Does anyone know what they would do with these pictures? Do they have a “pro-choice” newsletter?

All thoughts, comments, experiences are welcome

Haven’t been able to do it for many years myself, sadly, but it’s not a new thing.

They’re trying to intimidate you, pure and simple. Hoping you’ll feel so uncomfortable that you’ll leave and never come back. People praying in front of the clinics are bad for business.

Keep at it. Hopefully someday I can too. 🙂

Margaret

I would assume that they see you as a freakshow and not a diligent player worker of God.

I am the last person to know about the right thing to do in situations of this nature. I would ask that if the goal you’re trying to accomplish is being best served by your actions.

Are you praying in front to help turn away people going there? Open the eyes of those that work there? A physical visual object to focus Rosary meditation on?

While praying the Rosary is never a bad thing, I’m curious if the objective is clear and appropriate action is being taken to complete the objective. Yet, the power of prayer can be an amazing thing 😃

I congratulate your diligence and solitude of your faith 🙂 Such public display is great (and non-violent) 👍

Hello murphdog261 ,

Like **unixfudotnet ** replied, you have Good and Strong Faith. And you intension is Great!.. I really would like to appreciate you.

At the same time, I would like to ask some questions about your group’s plan:
  1. Did your group can stop any person from going to that clinic ?
  2. Did your group can turn any woman’s mind and keep the child ?
What my suggestion is:
  1. First try to find out the reasons behind the abortion…Maybe it is due to an illegal relationship or money problem or sex of the child or some other matters.
  2. Think how you can stop going peoples to this clinic… firstly try to find peoples who are going to this clinic, talk with them and help them from going to do again in life. Thus you can save their child and please God.
  3. You can make a campaign on your place or near to that clinic… or display the problems of abortion or what God expects about the child… near to that clinic… Or on your town… or your news papers or tv channels or through websites or through conducting seminars on church or by home basis or offices etc etc.
  4. if you are financially sound or if you can find some money form somewhere, then please start a Mother Car trust, where any women can come and stay and after the birth of the child, they can go …And you people take care of the child… And may sometimes, the mother also wish to stay there…
why don’t you think about this way ? I wrote all these from my thinkings and the reasons of abortion on India… Maybe your place has a different culture and different reasons behind abortion.

It is best to gather you all people and pray in a closed room and asks to Jesus, what HE can do to stop this… and always prays together… Group prayer has more power than single’s prayer… And if possible please stop to going infront of the clinic and pray like you did nowadays.

near to my home there is a care centre and he saved the life of more than 100 children… Most of the ladies are from well family and go this because of illegal relationship…

Please ignore it, if you can’t accept me…

God Bless You people…

goes with the territory, yes of course you should expect some reaction. make sure you are observing the law in your area, and if you feel the need to challenge an unjust law get some guidance before doing so.

I would not advise direct approach to clients approaching the building unless and until you have had good guidance and preparation from Operation Rescue or similar organization.

whatever your group is doing you should all be clear on your motivation, reasons and tactics. If you are praying for an end to abortion, and for the women and babies involved, continue to pray, that more than anything else will change hearts, and the rest of the pro-life movement is powerless w/o prayer.

if you want to do intervention, join a group that does it and will train you properly.

if you want to be politically active, join such a group, keep informed, get out voter alerts etc.

if you try to do too many things at the same time w/o a clear focus your efforts will avail little. above all, w/o the underlying basis of prayer, not much will happen at all.

everyone involved in intervention and rescue must have a regular prayer partner who prays while that work is going on.

You must be doing a good job if they are trying to get rid of you through intimidation! I will keep honking and giving a ‘thumbs up’ when I see people like you in front of clinics.

FYI - they take pictures of you because of the violence that is threatened to the abortion clinics. They have pictures of all potential suspects if some evil is commited against them.

Unfortunately not all of our bothers and sisters in the pro-life movement are dedicated to prayer as a means of resolving the situation.

Also - try the Juno tactic. Tell them their babies have finger nails. I read that was powerful…bits of unwanted protoplasm don’t have fingernails - people do!

Nothing in this post should be construed at advocating any violence to anyone. Nor should anyone assume that I advocate the message of Juno, while it contained some touching scenes, single parenthood is never the desirable, or most healthy situation for a child!

Taking photos as a record of a potentially volatile situation is quite common - they do not understand you, so they feel threatened. Their thinking is that If something gets vandalised, or someone gets injured/killed, they’ll have pictures of suspects for the police. In some cases they’ll hire private investigators in an attempt to dig up some dark past to throw at you. The blog naming and “shaming” participants is also a strong possibility. It also means that if anyone later applies for a job there, they can check that person was not at the rallies and isn’t trying to sabbotage them from the inside.

Hope that helps,

Eye for an Eye - Take pics of everyone going and coming - (you don’t really need to have film in camera - LOL) - I know I’ll get flack for this one, and I really don’t want to jeopardize your good works. But you know if they see YOU doing it - that’s bad for their “customers’” privacy - you’ll get complaints - so just remind them to put their lenses down - and you will - but not the Rosary beads.

Keep up the good work - God bless your whole group - and don’t be intimidated. Know the law and don’t get bullied !

Besides I think that there is something in the law about not murdering. I guess they forgot about it oh well.

He, he! Had to laugh at this one, great idea!👍

Puzzleannie’s advice seems sound murphdog261. It’s always a good idea to know the law so that no lines are inadvertently crossed. Leaving a little “buffer zone” never hurts either and it’s good that you’re doing it in a group (people are less likely to bother you if there are others there to corroborate any goings on).

One might even say the same advice comes from Jesus Himself:
(Matt 10:16) "Behold I send you out like sheep in the midst of wolves. You must be therefore as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves."

Although we don’t always get to see it, the Rosary is an enormous weapon against evil.

It’s rather unfortunate that in our own parish, when reciting the Rosary in a group after Mass, I appear to be the only one who ever mentions abortion as a prayer intention. You’re already in the trenches murphdog261, but I’ll share with you how this intention is mentioned at the beginning of whichever decade I happen to be leading (in case you see something that could be of use to you):

Let us pray : For the conversion of all those who promote, procure and perform abortions; for all expectant mothers – particularly those who are contemplating abortion, and for the healing of those who have personally experienced abortion. We invite all the Guardian Angels of these souls, and the Souls and Angels of the aborted to join us in our prayers.

God bless you for your efforts ( I pray anyone who reads your thread will also pray the Rosary in union with your intentions), and may Our Blessed Mother continue to watch over you and your friends/dear ones, with a jealous love.

(I’m standing up saluting you while I type this with my other hand)
