I’m stuck. Any tips on what works for you? This is a frustrating road block in my faith since I have grown very close to, and had amazing meditations, while praying the Rosary.

Have you tried the Scriptural Rosary? In this Rosary there is a line of Scripture before each Hail Mary. You read the Scripture (out loud if with a group, or silently if with yourself), hesitate a few seconds pondering it, then say the Hail Mary.

This helps keep one focused on the mystery.

If you google “Scriptural Rosary” you may find some on line that you can print out.

They sell Scriptural Rosary books in Catholic bookstores.

I started out with the version printed in MY TREASURY OF CHAPLETS by Patricia S. Quintiliani. But nowadays I use THE ROSARY FOR THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY, by Susan Tassone. I’m sure there must be plenty of other versions in print, in case I get bored with the current two I have

I have a wonderful book, “Father Peyton’s Rosary Prayer Book”. It has several different sets of meditations for each set of mysteries.
(Someone has gone back & added meditation for the Luminous Mysteries, to Fr Peyton’s originals, which were written many years ago).
The book is published by Ignatius Press. I actually bought it off of Amazon, after several people recommended it to me, on another board.

Or you could download the Virtual Rosary. Once you have you can d/l additional meditations for it, including scriptural, different saints’ meditations, &c.

Yes, I’ve tried Scriptural Rosaries and I get bored of them after a while. The Virtual Rosary dosen’t seem to work on my computer…

Last night I tried to meditate by saying the Hail Mary first and then meditating biefly and moving on to the next bead. This took FOREVER though and I ended up staying up till about 1:30 when I planned on only saying it in about 20 minutes before bed.

OK, what you need is The Franciscan Crown, a highly indulgenced rosary of 7 decades. GOOGLE it, and you will note that you are not required to meditate on the mysteries as you go through the Hail Mary’s, and the seven decades can be spread out through the day, one decade at a time.

If you haven’t read it already I would suggest a good reading through St. Louis de Montfort’s Secret of the Rosary.

I’ve also found that an old, less popular version of the Rosary helps me to meditate on the mysteries better. You can find it here, it’s very different than the one we’re used to.
