How strict are the requirements for how the Rosary is said? My wife and I are not yet Catholics, but are praying the Rosary together daily. She asked if I would ask here if we needed to kneel? I said we didn’t, mostly because I’m in my sixties and can’t kneel that long. But I did promise to ask. Thanks in advance.

Certainly there are no required postures for any prayer except the Mass itself 😃 And even then you’re permitted to spare your knees if you’re not up to kneeling for long periods.

Any amount of time you are giving to God is good. There is no rule on how one must do things during personal prayer. You don’t have to kneel. During the Rosary, Mary is contemplating her Son’s life with you and the love you show Him during that time is what is important.

I’m of the belief that any Rosary is better than no Rosary. 🙂 We’re human, we can’t do anything perfectly.

You’ve all been very kind with your rapid responses. Thank you very much. I’ll be sure to tell her what you said. 🙂

nope best posture is one where you can be comfortable and pray without being distracted by aches and pains, no need to kneel. I do best when I am walking. If you fall asleep, no problem, your guardian angel will finish your rosary for you.

I usually pray the rosary in the car… it’s difficult to drive on my knees, though… 😃

Nope… there are no “requirements”… 🙂
