Rosary Ring

Hello All, I have received a rosary ring and was wondering if I can wear it at all times or if that would be considered as using it as a piece of jewelry and not for pious purposes.

If you are only going to use it as a piece of jewelry and are not going to pray with it, then I would say it is wrong… BUT if you are going to use it to pray discreetly to yourself throughout the day then I think that that is a wonderfully pious practice!

I can’t iamgine wearing the rosary ring I own as a piece of jewlery! Useful for fending off attackers though! The “beads” stick out and the crucifix is about 1/2 inch high. It’s good to keep in your pocket or on a key ring and slip on your finger just when you are going to pray.

I believe there would be nothing intrinsically wrong with wearing a rosary ring as a jewelry. It comes with at least a hint of hope that it could also be used in a pious practice if needed. Not all rings come with the cross sticking out, although the ones I’ve seen in the Catholic bookstores do. I looked on ebay for “gold rosary ring” and there’s a variety of them out there.

I would for sure pray with it or at least it would remind me to pray the rosary or pray for guidance from The Blessed Mary.

I wear a Rosary bracelet. I sometimes pray with it, but usually just use a regular rosary. I wear it all the time, though, because it has a crucifix on it. I wore a crucifix around my neck for decades and started having problems with the chain… I need all gold, and can’t afford it, so now I wear a crucifix on my wrist.

The only thing I don’t like seeing ( for some reason:shrug is when someone has a rosary around their neck. It makes no sense, since I wear one on my wrist, and you wear one on your finger, but it does seem wrong to me. Can’t explain it.

“When you get a new Rosary, you should have it blessed by a priest, thus making it a sacramental. Note that Rosaries are not to be worn or used as jewelry. They can be worn around the neck or what not if you are working and it is incidental, but they are not to be worn for the purpose of personal ornamentation.”
